Hunter Valley artist Sheryl Cain's profound connection to the earthy tones of inland Australia and the natural beauty of the landscape shines through her artwork, which serves as a tribute to the Australian environment and its flora. By skillfully blending realistic and impressionistic techniques and working with mediums like soft pastels, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and flow medium, Sheryl creates pieces that capture the essence and vibrancy of the land. Having completed a diploma in Visual Arts and administration Galleries and Museum in 2023 at Newcastle Art School with plans to pursue an advanced diploma in visual arts in 2024, Sheryl is dedicated to furthering her artistic knowledge and establishing a successful career in the arts.

I'm was drawn to the textures, the patterns and the warm and earthy tones that is the Australian desert, Being up-close, feeling the power of this ancient place is so personal and I found comfort, peace, a sense of calm and tranquillity.

"Natures Cathedral" Acrylic rendering of a up close and personal experience with sandstone caves situated in the Pilliga Nature Reserve are an Aboriginal site for the local Gamilaraay people. The sandstone caves were created over 150 million years ago (the Jurassic Age). Created by nature through a time of peace and tranquillity, vast horizontal layers of sediment layed down in a series of lakes. Volcanic eruptions thrust the sandstone layers upward to form a series of cathedral like caves in an array of colours and shapes we are privileged to see today.
